The minimum daily tariff for tourists travelling in a group of 3 people or more is USD $250 per person per night during peak season (March, April, May, October and November). During off season (January, February, June, July, August and December) is USD $200 per person per night. Accommodation for 4 and 5 star requires additional payment. The Royal Government of Bhutan fixes minimum tariff for packages to Bhutan.
The daily tariff covers; accommodation (minimum of 3 star), meals, tour guide charges, transportation, camping equipment, camping crew charges, camp shifting charges, internal taxes, sustainable development fee of USD $65 which goes to free education, free health care, poverty alleviation (Source: Toursim Council of Bhutan).
Tourists with a group 2 persons or less shall be charged surcharges in addition to minimum daily tariff rate. Single individual traveling to Bhutan need to pay extra USD $40 per night while a group of 2 persons require to pay USD $30 per person per night. The 10% agency commission payable to agent will be deducted from surcharges (Source: Toursim Council of Bhutan).
No charges will be levied other than visa fee of USD $40 for children below the age of 5 years. 50% discount on minimum daily tariff rate will be given to the children between the age of 5 - 12 years. 25% discount on minimum daily tariff rate will be provided for the full time students below the age of 25 years. 50% discount on minimum daily tariff rate will provided to one person in a group of 11 people . 100% discount will be given to one member in a group exceeding 16 people. 50% duration discount will be provided on sustainable development fee after 8th night and 100% discount will be given on sustainable development fee after 14th night. 100% sustainable development fee free zone discount shall be provided on sustainable development fee on first or last night for group with night halt in Phuntsholing, Sarpang, and Samdrupjongkhar on arrival or departure.
Children below 5 years will not be eligible for group size discount, duration discount, sustainable development fee free zone discount. All the students and children will not be eligible for duration discount.
You must send the tour payment calculated by tour operator including USD $40, one time visa fee to the Bhutan National Bank (BNB) and email the bank receipt to the Bhutanese tour operator (Source: Toursim Council of Bhutan).
In case your tour program is cancelled, you must discuss with your Bhutanese tour operator. Individual tour operator has their own cancellation policy (Source: Toursim Council of Bhutan).
No charges will be levied for delays in arrival and departure. However, the tourists need to bear the cost of food, accommodation, transportation and other services required. We also like to recommend that you purchase travel insurance prior to travel (Source: Toursim Council of Bhutan).
